I appreciate all of the comments & feedback posted on this site, it helped me in my decision process. I was debating between the JD 4600 (because 4500 does not have HTC), the Kubota 4310HST, and the NH TC40D. I ended up ordering the TC40D (HTC, folding ROPS etc), R4 tires, 16LA loader with the 72" tooth bar ($354 extra) & grill guard. Total cost was $20,550 (no taxes). I saw some lower prices quoted on this site, but after calling the five dealers closest to me, this is the best I could get (frankly I am real happy with the price). The dealer nearest me matched anothers price so at least I am only 13 miles from the dealer (I live near Petersburg MI - 10 minutes from the new Cabela store in Dundee). I have 10 acres, including a one acre pond that I need a tractor to maintain the edges on etc (need the power & traction to scoop up wet clay etc). But mostly I just wanted a big toy to play with - am looking forward to grading all of my neighbors driveways and so on.I am supposed to get my tractor on Thursday - can't wait to play with it.

Len-
Your choice is the same choice I'm currently making and I think I'll get the NH too. The best JD4600 price was $3,000 more, and the best Kubota L4310 price was $2,500 more. I just can't justify the extra $$$ and I love my current JD955 but need something a little bigger. Best price I've gotten on the TC40D w/ R4's and HD loader bucket is right at $20,000 in coastal SC. ....

John - I found almost exactly the same difference on prices between blue, orange and green as you did. I ordered the tooth bar to go with the heavy duty bucket based on comments others made in these postings. I was pretty much set on blue anyhow, but I took my wife along to get her vote in the matter (felt it was the best way I could convince her I needed one) and she liked the looks of it the most. ....

sounds like a good price to me, I paid within $100 of that when I bought mine in may. can't remember the exact prices, but was something like 16402 for the 40D with r4's, 3450 for loader, a 250 charge for HD bucket and 400 for toothbar. ....

I just traded in my tc29 and will pick up my tc40d tomorrow, I got pretty much the same package with the addition of a quick attach bucket and a set of forklift forks but no tooth bar. ....
